OC Commission: Diane

My first fullbody commission :D

Here, I've tried out a new method for pose sketching.
Then sketched  some details over it.
I'm going to attempt foreshortening in this one.
Dear God, please help me.

Just a note: The character is wearing a corset, so her waist is much smaller than it would naturally be.

Tablet's Here!

Welp, my tablet arrived in the mail Monday afternoon!
Instead of sleeping like a good little Lullx, I've been up all night trying it out.

This is a [hopfully] more finished version of my previous few sketches.
Yes, she will be wearing clothing. I just took this as an opportunity to practice shading and values on the human body.

I'll clean this up more later and hopefully start adding actual details.
...Eventually.
I think I'm going to end up leaving her greyscaled.

But as always, feedback is greatly appreciated!

Pose Redo

Altered the pose a bit from yesterday. Decided to throw this into a new post for God knows what reason.
I think her head looks too big now, but meh. Feedback's greatly appreciated.

To the Birds

Spring Break this week, but I've been feeling very ill and spending most of my freetime sleeping lol
So here we have a pose developed from my mind. No reference, though I will go through and use some when I do this again for a digital piece.

The camera must have been at a weird angle, because this looks way more out of proportion than it does in my sketchbook... I'll try to scan this later to get a better image.

Don't mind the messy feathers, I'm just planning out the image. Need to do wing studies.
Also lol, claw hand.

Edit: So, I totally tried to redo this in SAI. With a mouse. I really need my tablet lol

Wonky

Half awake doodle. The anatomy's off. No reference.
An idea for a full drawing popped in my head, so I wanted to test out the pose I had in mind for it...

4.11.11 - Interacting with Objects

...Sort of.
Going way out of my comfort zone yet again here. I drew a ghetto chair. Please don't laugh at it ):
I just wanted to try a pose of someone sitting on something, instead of just hanging out in mid air or some other nonsense. I am so horrible with scenery and objects and... just about everything.
But I'm trying x_x

Also my scanner is really bad... I hatched the chair so that you can tell what's the model and what's the chair, but it's a bit difficult to see on this scan. I need to learn to draw heavier... I edited this in GIMP to make the lines as dark as possible, but it's still really light in some areas, as you can see. I apologize for that ):
Fixed up a few spots, and tried my best to make the lines heavier.

Also, the negative spaces don't match up quite as well as I hoped they would [thanks to Miri for that tip!], but ugh. Other than it being a little wonky, especially compared to the reference, I'm pretty damn happy with it.
That right leg took forever.

4.10.11 - Bellydancer Pose

I did this this morning before heading to bed, while half asleep.
Also, the picture came out blue for some reason lol

My stylization is creeping back in with this one, but I'm hoping to turn it into a finished piece. I should be drawing it exactly how I see it, but I was tired and frustrated and just wanted to have a little fun with it I guess.
I messed up on her right arm, as usual. I think the model's hair is really messing me up with the arm/shoulder area.
Will retry this pose in a bit.

4.9.11 - Foreshortening Fail

Dat arm
I'm having some issues with foreshortening ):
I've always had issues with it I guess, so any help with that would be great.
I swear I've redrawn her right arm 4 times, and it just gets messed up even more each time, so I gave up lol

First wonky attempt:
Foreshortening Fail 2:
Electric Boogaloo.

Pose Practice 3.27.11 - 3.28.11

This is the very beginning of my pose practice.

The first set, was just me making up poses out of my head and trying to draw them without references, as I wasn't near my computer at the time. I'm still very weak with anatomy, so this didn't turn out so well. But it was fun! I also apologize for the quality. I need to learn to draw darker so it shows up on my scanner better...

This second one, I wanted to try a more dynamic pose. I pulled a few pictures of ballerinas up as references. I'm still very weak with foreshortening, so there are quite a few errors in this, but I feel like it's a start.
