Another ballet pose. I think I'm getting the hang of this.

I'm not aiming to recreate my references.

I intentionally alter parts of my sketches.

3.29.11 - Hand Studies

Trying to block out the hands before actually drawing them to see how that works for me.
I still fail so hard at fingernails.

My goal here was to not spend forever on these. They took less than 5 minutes each.
I find that when I take too long on something, I get frustrated with it and either overdo it, or mess it up.
So I'm trying to get down the basics quickly.

Winter Studies

These were the first two entries in my new sketchbook. I'm using this new sketchbook strictly for studies and poses. It's one of those hardcovers with the book mark, pen holder on, and elastic strap to keep it closed.
Makes me feel fancy.
The three poses in my last blog post are from the same sketchbook.

1.15.11 - Hand Study

used my left hand as a reference.

2.17.11 - Airplane Faces

On the ride out to Seattle, I was bumped up to first class, so spent the flight doing quick doodles of the passengers around me. They're very stylized, which is something I'm trying to avoid now when drawing from life.

Pose Practice 3.27.11 - 3.28.11

This is the very beginning of my pose practice.

The first set, was just me making up poses out of my head and trying to draw them without references, as I wasn't near my computer at the time. I'm still very weak with anatomy, so this didn't turn out so well. But it was fun! I also apologize for the quality. I need to learn to draw darker so it shows up on my scanner better...

This second one, I wanted to try a more dynamic pose. I pulled a few pictures of ballerinas up as references. I'm still very weak with foreshortening, so there are quite a few errors in this, but I feel like it's a start.

That, and trying to see how the petals form on the flowers.
